********************SHOW NOTES / QUOTES********************************

How “Loving the Lord your God with your … strength” is related to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

How do you love your neighbor?

How is loving with your strength a natural culmination of that of the heart, soul and mind?

What are some practical ways you can use your talents to help those in need, whether it be in your community, or beyond?

My thoughts on the divisions in denominations due to the term, “works.”

How can one help those in need, if they are unable to do such in person, due to family or work obligations?

What are the gifts of the Holy Spirit? How would you use these gifts to help others?
1 Corinthians 12, 14; Isaiah 11:1-3, Galatians 5:22-23

No talent is too small. I had a quirky talent of writing parody songs, which has been used to give others laughter, as well as a teaching tool. I could not have come up with the idea of doing parody songs on my own.

FOR ALL THE SAINTS
Ralph Vaughan Williams, William W. How

For all the saints who from their labors rest
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia, Alleluia,

Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight
Thou, in the darkness, drear, their one true light, Alleluia, Alleluia.

O may thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold
Fight as the saints, who nobly fought of old
And win, with them, the victor’s crown of gold, Alleluia!

O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one, in Thee, for all are Thine, Alleluia!

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
Steals on the ear the distant triumph song
And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong. Alleluia! Alleluia!

The golden evening brightens in the west;
Soon, soon to faithful warriors cometh rest
Sweet is the calm of paradise the blest. Alleluia.

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day
The saints triumphant rise in bright array
The King of Glory passes on His way Alleluia!

From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host
Singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Alleluia, Alleluia!

THE DOOR (REV 3:20)
Nick Alexander
Based on Revelation 3:20

Behold the words of our Lord:
He stands and knocks at your Door!
If anyone would hear His voice,
If only they would make the choice
To open the Door, He’ll come in,
He’ll eat with you, you with Him,
Consider, it’s time, to let Him come in.

We wait for You, wait for You , O Lord!…

TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Fanny Crosby

To God, be the glory, Great things He hath done
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the Life gates that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son
And give Him the glory,
Great things He has done

To God be the glory, In the Lord we are free
Great things He has taught us,
Great things we can see
O perfect redemption, O perfect Delight
And great our rejoicing in the beam of His light

Robert Filoramo, Jr.

For the man who follows Jesus, all the days of His life
Who picks up His cross and walks with His God
A glorious inheritance awaits Him at the end
Where He will see and know His true Father
And the pearl of great price is in His Hands

So as for me I will press on in running the race
With my eyes fixed on Jesus, who inspires and perfects my faith.
I will fight the good fight with all my heart and soul
Until the day that I’m with Jesus, the day I’m fin’lly home
The day that I have won the crown.

He will approach the throne of his Father, with Jesus at His side
The Father will rise and say “Welcome Home”
“You’re a good and faithful servant, come home and take your reward
The battle’s done, come and take your rest
Stay with me, forevermore!

And the heavens will resound with a thunder of praise
The angels and the saints will shout for joy
And the Father will dance for his son has come home
Another warrior, returns from the fight
Another victory for the Lamb of God

THE LORD HAS GIVEN A LAND OF GOOD THINGS

Author unknown

The Lord has given a land of good things
I will press in and make them mine.
I’ll know His power, I’ll know His glory
And in His Kingdom I will shine.

With the high praises of God in our mouth
And a two edged sword in our hand
We will march right on to the victory side
Right into Canaan’s land.

Gird up your armor, ye sons of Zion
Gird up your armor, let’s go to war.
We’ll win this battle, with great rejoicing
And so we’ll praise him more and more
ST PATRICK’s BREASTPLATE
Arranged by Nick Alexander

Christ be with me
Christ within me
Christ behind me
Christ before me
Christ beside me
Christ to win me
Christ to comfort
And restore me

Christ beneath me
Christ above me
Christ in quiet
Christ in danger
Christ in hearts of
all that love me
Christ in mouth of
friend and stranger.

IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE, GOD ONLY WISE
Walt Chalmers Smith, 1867; ST. DENIO / Welsh Melody

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all life thou givest to both great and small;
In all life thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish but nought changeth thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render: O help us to see
‘Tis only the splendour of light hideth thee.
ROMANS 11:33

His judgments
How unsearchable His ways

BE THOU MY VISION
Traditional Irish Melody

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me save that Thou art
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence, my light.

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my Great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one.

Riches I need not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou my inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of heaven, my treasure, Thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys O bright heaven’s Son!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE
Come and go with me, to my Father’s house
to my Father’s house, to my Father’s house
Come and go with me, to my Father’s house
Where there’s joy, joy, joy.

We will clap our hands…
There is liberty…

COME GO WITH ME TO THAT LAND
Come and go with me to that land
Come and go with me to that land
Come and go with me to that land Where I’m bound…
Come and go with me to that land
Come and go with me to that land
To that land, to that land Where I’m bound.

Be singing and dancing in that land…
You’re gonna meet Jesus in that land…

THERE’S NEW LIFE IN JESUS
There’s new life in Jesus, lift up your heart!
There’s new life in Jesus, lift up your heart!
Lift up your heart! Lift up your heart!
There’s new life in Jesus, lift up your heart!

JESUS, LOVER OF MY SOUL
Charles Wesley, Simeon B. Walsh
New arrangement by Nick Alexander

Jesus, lover of my soul,
Let me to Your bosom fly
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the storms of life be past
Safe into Your haven guide,
Lord receive my soul at last.

1. Other refuge, have I none, Lord
I hang my helpless soul on Thee
Please don’t leave me all alone, Lord
But support and comfort me.

2. Plenteous grace, with Thee, I’ve found, Lord
Grace to cleanse from ev’ry sin.
Let Your healing streams abound, Lord
Make and keep me pure, within.

[Bridge]:
All my trust is in Your stead
(All my help from Thee I cling)
Cover my defenseless head
(With the shadow of Your wing)
Lord, spring up within my heart;
(Rise to all eternity)
You’re the fountain;
Let me drink of Thee!

ENTIRELY TO THEE
Nick Alexander and Ed Luchansky

I surrender all
Entirely to Thee
I pledge my life, my will
Entirely to Thee

I give unto Thee
All I am
Entirely to Thee
All I am.

For You know all my needs
And I know You will provide
And You show me,
You’ll never leave my side.

Come, into the Heart of the One
Who makes us whole
Come, into the Heart of the Son
And let us adore!

I’VE GOT THE JOY
Unknown

We got the joy, joy, joy, joy
Down in our heart (Where?)
Down in our heart (Where?)
Down in our heart
We got the joy, joy, joy, joy
Down in our heart (Where?)
Down in our heart to stay!

We’ve got the love, love, love, love…

And we’re so happy, so very happy!
We’ve got the love of Jesus in our heart!
And we’re so happy, so very happy!
We’ve got the love of Jesus in our heart!

… Peace that Passeth understanding…
… Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit…
… Wonderful love of our blessed Redeemer
Way down in the depths of our heart! (Huh?)

And if the Devil doesn’t like it
he can sit on a tack! (Ouch!)…

O FOR A HEART TO PRAISE MY GOD
Charles Wesley, James Walsh (1837-1901)

O for a heart to praise my God
A heart from sin set free!
A heart that’s sprinkled with the blood
So freely shed for me.

A heart resigned, submissive, meek,
My dear Redeemer’s throne
Where only Christ is heart to speak
Where Jesus reigns alone.

A humble, lowly, contrite heart
Believing, true and clean
Which neither death nor life can part
From Him that dwells within.

A heart in ev’ry thought renewed
And filled with love divine;
Perfect and right, and pure and good
A copy, Lord, of Thine.

Thy nature, gracious Lord impart
Come quickly from above
Write Thy new name upon my heart
Thy name, best name, of Love.

O LOVE WHO FORMEDST ME TO WEAR
G. Neumark, 1621-81, J. Scheffler 1621-77

O Love, who formedst me to wear
The image of Thy Godhead here;
Who soughtest me with tender care
Through all my wand’rings wild and drear;

O Love, I give myself to Thee
Thine ever, only Thine to be.

O Love, who ere life’s earliest dawn
On me Thy choice hast gently laid;
O Love, who here as Man wast born
And like to us in all things made;

O Love, I give myself to Thee
Thine ever, only Thine to be.

O Love, who once in time wast slain,
Pierced through and through with bitter woe
O Love, who wrestling thus didst gain
That we, eternal joy, might know;

O Love, of Whom is truth and light,
The word and Spirit, life and pow’r;
Whose heart was bared to them that smite,
To shield us in our trial hour;

O Love, I give myself to Thee
Thine ever, only Thine to be.

O Love, who lovest me for ay,
Who for my soul dost ever plead
O Love, who didst my ransom pay
Whose pow’r sufficeth in my stead;

JESUS, JESUS,
LET ME TELL YOU HOW I FEEL
YOU HAVE GIVEN ME YOUR SPIRIT
I LOVE YOU SO

O Love, who once shalt bid me rise
From out this dying life of ours
O Love, who once above yon skies
shalt set me in the fadeless bowers;

O Love, I give myself to Thee
Thine ever, only Thine to be.

COME, YE THANKFUL PEOPLE COME
Public Domain, Arr. by Nick Alexander

1. Come, ye thankful people come
Raise the song of harvest home
All are safely gathered in
Ere the winter storms begin
God our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied
Come to God’s own temple, come
Raise the song of harvest home

3. For the Lord, our God shall come
And shall take His harvest home
From His field, shall in that day
All offenses purge away
Give His angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast
But the fruitful ears to store
In His garner evermore.

2. All the world is God’s own field
Fruit unto His praise to yield
Grant O harvest Lord that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be

4. Even so, Lord quickly come
To Your final harvest home
Gather all Your people in
Free from sorrow, free from sin
There, forever purified
In Your presence to abide
Come with all Your angels come
Raise the glorious harvest home.

2. All the world is God’s own field
Fruit unto His praise to yield
Wheat and tares together sown
Unto joy or sorrow grown
First the blade and then the ear
Then the full corn shall appear
Grant O harvest Lord that we
Wholesome grain and pure may be

3. Lord, our God, one day You’ll come
And You’ll take Your harvest home
From Your field, You’ll in that day
All offenses purge away
Give Your angels charge at last
In the fire the tares to cast
But the fruitful ears You’ll store
In Your garner evermore.
CHILDREN OF THE KING
by Robert Filoramo, Jr.

O Lord we are Your children washed clean and set free
Jesus is our brother, we’re children of the King

And so we raise our hands to You
as we dance around and sing
’coz Dad You are wonderful,
You’re the great and mighty King.

You’re the Alpha, the Omega,
the First and the Last
You’re the One who made the universe.
But best of all, You’re our Dad.

EXALTED IN GLORY (PSALM 8)
Nick Alexander

O Lord, Our Lord, How majestic is Your Name
In all the earth, How majestic is Your Name

O Lord, our Lord, You are exalted in glory
Above the heavens, and beyond the earth
You are exalted in glory

Out of the mouths of babes and infants
You have ordained praise. [repeat]

When I behold Your heavens
The work of Your fingers
I can’t comprehend how You can behold man
How You can give attention to Him
You give to Him dominion
Over all Your creation
And even now, man is crowned
With Your great adulation.

LEAD KINDLY LIGHT
by Blessed John Henry Newman

Lead kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom
Lead thou me on.
The night is dark, and I am far from home
Lead thou me on.
Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene, one step enough for me.

I was not ever thus nor prayed that Thou
Shouldst lead me on.
I loved to choose and see my path but now
Lead thou me on.
I loved the garish day and spite of fears.
Pride ruled my will; remember not past years.

So long Thy pow’r hath blest me sure it still
Will lead me on.
O’er moor and fen, o’er cragg and torrent till
The night is gone.
And with the morn, those angel faces smile.
Which I have loved, long since and lost awhile.

NOT MY WILL
Author unknown

Not my will, but Yours be done
But let the fullness of the Son
Rule within this life that I have offered Thee.
Until ev’rything I do
Becomes the thing that pleases You
Abba Father, I would be Your son indeed.

Not our will, but Yours be done
O let the fullness of the Son
Rule within our lives that we have offered Thee.
Lord, let everything we do
Be only that which pleases You.
Abba Father, let us be, Your sons indeed.
